What machines will use technology solutions derived from the John Deere FarmSight strategy?
John Deere is now and will continue to design machines that utilize John Deere FarmSight technology solutions.
They are and will be wired for telematics, GPS, and mobile data processing for increased machine communications.
A great example of this is the new 8R Tractors that offers JDLink, John Deere's telematic solution. Currently, customers will receive a free one year JDLink Ultimate subscription.
As we continue to launch new tractors, combines, sprayers, and other vehicles in the future, they will be integrated with additional FarmSight technology.
Will the John Deere FarmSight strategy include solutions for competitive machines?
The John Deere FarmSight strategy will be inclusive of most competitive machines.
Today, customers are able to optimize competitive machines with JDLink Select and other Ag precision technology.
Is John Deere FarmSight just about technology on my equipment?
No, the John Deere FarmSight strategy is about providing visibility to your operation’s data on and off the machine.
Today, some of our products, like JDLink, allow you to receive alerts about your machine through your phone and the JDLink computer website.
We will continue to invest and explore more technologically advanced solutions that will continue to improve your productivity on and off your machines.
As we look into the future:
Remote display access will allow the support department at D&M Implement access your 2630 display remotely to help with any issues you may be having in field.
Machine Sync is a solution for those times when margin of error is tight, such as when you are unloading on the go with the combine and grain cart. Machine Sync will allow the combine to control the grain cart - see us for more details!
AutoTrac Controller Kit
Want something more than the ATU200 for a steering solution on your non-integrated autosteer machine? We have the solution. John Deere AutoTrac Controller now offers integrated steering when coupled with a GS3 2630 Display for Case IH Steiger, MX, and QuadTrac. John Deere supported models are 6400, 6800, 6900, and 10 series, 7200, 7400, 7500, 7600, 7700, 7800, and 10 series.
John Deere Implement Detection
Implement detection is an industry exclusive function that automatically populates implement and task specific settings from a controller on the implement to the GS3 2630 display. Now, you will never have to second guess if your offsets, widths, or turn on & turn off times are entered into the display - just plug and play!
You just saved $9,000!
When using technology such as Active Implement Guidance, when the StarFire 3000 Receiver on the Machine is RTK the subsequent receiver on the Implement only needs to be at SF1 accuracy but will advance to RTK since it is linked into the receiver. Utilizing Machine Sync with a combine that has a StarFire 3000 Receiver that is RTK? Your grain cart tractor’s receiver will then be RTK as well. 2 StarFire Receivers, 2 different signals, 1 level of accuracy. Before the standard requested both the machine and implement be RTK – this has now changed and it saved you $9,000.
July Software Update 2011-2
Release Notes
Displays: GreenStar 3 2630
New Features
- Calculator - A calculator is now available in the Menu. It can be used for various basic calculations.
- Find Field Option in Field Drop-down List - This option provides easy access to Field Locator. It is located in the Field selection drop-down list. When selected, Field Locator alerts the operator of the field in which it detects the machine is operating, as well as other nearby fields.
- List Cleanup - In the drop-down lists of Client/Farm/Field/Boundary the List Cleanup option will appear. Selecting this option will display a page where the operator can Rename or Delete items that are selected with a checkbox. Client/Farm/Field/Boundaries that are active or in-use cannot be renamed or deleted.
Note: If items are renamed and transferred to desktop software, both the old and new names will appear in the desktop. - Video Enhancements - Up to three video inputs are now supported on the display. The video images can be included in a “Loop” that automatically cycles through each video input. Video can be set as a 1/4 screen on a homepage, but only in one area per page.
- Enhanced Scroll Bars - Scroll bars can now be moved down by pressing inside the bar as well as of incrementally pushing one of the up or down arrows.
- Text on Buttons - Text has been added to more buttons on the display.
- Documentation Setup - Display will now prompt the user to fill in specific information that is preventing recording instead of just alerting the operator that information is missing. This will eliminate the need to try and find where you might be missing setup information.
- Advanced AutoTrac Settings Update - The Advanced AutoTrac Settings feature is now more descriptive and should make it easier to get AutoTrac fine-tuned.
- Notes Linked to Field - In addition to Task Notes, you can now type Field Notes for a field. These notes will also appear in Apex when data is unloaded.
Displays: GreenStar 2 1800
New Features
- Basic Setup - A Basic Setup option has been added to allow users to skip several pages of the Setup Wizard. This option is recommended only for use with Straight Track, because the full setup is required for mapping accuracy around curves and for Swath Control Pro (now Section Control).
Note: Accessing Basic Setup will set machine, implement, field and documentation setup information to defaults. The user can reselect those settings at a later time using the Standard Setup option. - Home Button Opens Run Page - Previously, selecting the Home button would open to the home page that was last viewed. Now, the Run page (map) will always be the initial GreenStar page that appears in the cycle.
- Text on Buttons - Text has been added to most of the buttons within the GreenStar application. Several miscellaneous reliability issues have been addressed.
- Track Spacing Shortcut - A shortcut button for changing Track Spacing has been added to the GreenStar Main page.
Note: Implement Width should not be changed during operation, because changing it will cause previously recorded coverage to dispear from the map. - Edit Track Shortcut - The Edit Track function was moved from a check box to softkey G on the Guidance Setup page for quicker access.
- Data Cleanup - A feature has been added within GreenStar Settings to allow users to delete Client, Farms, or Field Names.
Note: Associated coverage maps, guidance lines, and documentation data will also be deleted. - "New" Now Listed at the Top of Lists - The option to create "New" Clients, Farms, Fields, or Boundaries is listed at the top of the lists instead of the bottom for easier access.
- John Deere Documentation Basics - The GreenStar 2 1800 display will show field totals calculated and sent by an ISO implement (or calculate total area, in case no implement is connected) after this feature has been activated via Stellar Support. If John Deere Documentation Basics is active on the Display while data is transferred to a connected USB drive. Documentation Basics does NOT include yield mapping or as-applied mapping. Some John Deere Implements such as the 1990 Planter and SeedStar will not send any totals documentation information to the display. For this reason, only the total area will be available. Documentation Basics will not be compatible with the 1990CCS or SeedStar2 even though both are ISO implements.
- Front Rigid 3-pt is Now an Option for Machine Connection Type - This option may be useful for front-mounted sprayers.
Displays: Original GreenStar
Informational Items
- Keycard Updates No Longer Supported – New Keycard updates for Original GreenStar displays will no longer be posted to the StellarSupport website. Going forward, receiver updates must be performed with a separate display such as GreenStar 2 1800/2600 or GreenStar 3 2630, or it may be performed by our dealership.
Receivers: StarFire 3000
New Features
- StarFire 2 Fallback for RTK Customers Using StarFire 3000 - RTK customers who are using the StarFire 3000 and experience a loss of RTK signal may use StarFire 2 corrections instead if they choose to do so. There is no SF2 subscription fee for this service. If the checkbox is marked, the system will transition from RTK to RTK-Extend to StarFire 2 and back to RTK, without disengaging AutoTrac. Fallback is good for 14 days before you must make a connection to RTK again. Please see the operators’ manual for more information.
Note: Customers who require sub-inch RTK accuracy at all times should not use this feature.
Known Issues
- AB Line Drift and "S-ing" - AB Line Drift and "S-ing" may be experienced while using StarFire 3000 receivers. There is a separate software fix available for customers who experience this issue. Please contact us for more information.
Resolved Items
- RTK Signal Drops From Severe Atmospheric Conditions Resolved - With the previous software, when using RTK signal, the signal may have dropped due to the way the receiver handled severe atmospheric conditions (incoming storms). The signal dropping with RTK has been resolved with this software update.
- Phantom Stripe/Angle No Longer Appears on Coverage Map - With the previous software, customers may have experienced a phantom stripe on their coverage map, causing Swath Control Pro (now Section Control) to turn off. The issue has now been resolved with this software update.
Guidance: iSteer, iGrade, AutoTrac, AutoTrac Universal
New Features
- Swap Track - This new guidance mode will allow you to easily toggle between 2 existing guidance lines on your GreenStar 3 2630 display. The feature is only available for Straight tracks, AB-curve tracks, and Circle tracks. Use this to your advantage when toggling between the headland rows and your field rows when starting a new field!
- Shared Signal - Shared Signal allows the correction signal from the vehicle receiver to share to the implement receiver when the following requirements
are met:
- GreenStar 3 2630 display
- StarFire 3000 receiver on both vehicle and implement
- StarFire 2 or RTK activation on both receivers
Resolved Items
- Direction of Travel Now Stored Correctly for Non-AutoTrac and Non-integrated AutoTrac Machines - To minimize the instances of a non-AutoTrac or a non-integrated AutoTrac machine powering up with incorrect direction of travel, this information will now be stored during the shutdown for the GreenStar 2 1800, GreenStar 3 2630, and GreenStar 3 CommandCenter displays.
Informational Items
- GreenStar 3 2630: Direction Toggle Button Re-introduced for Non-integrated AutoTrac - When using non-integrated AutoTrac with a GreenStar 3 2630 display, a direction toggle button will again be available on user-defined home pages and the Guidance home page. Ever view your tractor going backwards in the field on your display? The 2630 will now make it easy to change directions.
- GreenStar 2 1800: Direction Toggle Button for Non-integrated AutoTrac & Non-AutoTrac - When using no AutoTrac or non-integrated AutoTrac with a GreenStar 2 1800 display, a direction toggle button is now available on the right-hand region of the GreenStar menu. This is similar to what the 2630 can do.
Advanced AutoTrac™ Settings Update - The Advanced AutoTrac Settings feature is now more descriptive and makes it easier to fine-tune AutoTrac. This will help correct anything that you may have noted this spring if your tractor did not have a software update for the SSU.
Crop Solutions: Swath Control Pro (Section Control)
New Features
- Four New Tabs - There are now four tabs that display relevant information and setting for the Swath Control Pro (now Section Control) pages.
- Summary: Now displays a summary of the different operations on the left hand side. The Section Control status bar now shows more accurate section on/off status for up to four operations.
- View by Operation: There is now a separate button for each operation that allows you to toggle between the Rate maps.
- Rates and Sections: More detailed information is provided for each operation such as target rate, actual rate, and section status.
- Settings: The Master On/Off switch is located here along with Headland Control checkbox, checkboxes to enable Swath Control Pro for different operations, Overlap Settings, and Turn On/Off Settings. For machines equipped with multiple Swath Control-capable controllers, it is now possible to set Turn On/Off times for each operation.
- Multiple Turn On/Turn Off Times for Multi-Product Applications - This version of Swath Control Pro (now Section Control) will allow the operator to set multiple turn on and turn off times to control multiple products with more than one rate controller. You will find this useful if you seed and product application are occurring in two different locations.
Items to Update
- SeedStar™ 2 Compatibility - If you have a Model Year 10 or previous planter you will need software version 10 to be compatible with this software update. Please contact us to get the latest version of planter software before updating your display and using your planter.
